DreamTown follows the stories of three Afro-Ecuadorian players, all from the El Chota Valley, a place known for producing soccer talent. Award-winning Ecuadorian-American filmmaker Betty Bastidas follows the dreams of an impoverished community in this sure to be powerful documentary. The El Chota Valley still remains marginalized and neglected even after qualifying for World Cup in 2002 and 2006 for the first times ever. Despite being the largest export hub of futbol in Ecuador, opportunities remain surprisingly few. Among the film’s main characters is Ulises de la Cruz, who represented Ecuador at the 2006 World Cup.
